Prof. Yasmin Dalisay, John Jay College, English Department

“Sandra is a great teacher…She is very adept at encouraging critical thinking. She gives her students excellent advice and actively involves them in the writing process. ”
Dr. Hugo Walter, Former Chair, Berkeley College, English Department

"Prof. Hurtes developed a rapport with her students by discussing her own challenges as a writer. Her classroom demeanor is calm, clear, and patient. The majority of students were prepared and informed and seemed to feel comfortable to voice their conclusions, which is a reflection of the instruction they received thus far."
Prof. Alexander Long, John Jay College, English Department

“Students are fortunate to have a professor like Prof. Hurtes, because she carefully plans out their time and has an easy, accessible manner that conveys support and encouragement.”
